What goes under the paver patio
We are going to tell you step by step on how we install out patios.
Our simple step by step process
Excavation
We typical excavate for a normal patio about 10 inches deep. That give us room for 6 inches of base. 1 inch of a bedding layer and 2 3/4 paver.
Fabrics
Once we excavate the patio area we then compact our sub soils. Clay, sand, etc. We then install a None woven fabric. This a like a blanket for all of our gravel and pavers. If helps to keep the good stuff (gravels) away from the bad stuff (dirt!).
What kind of base?
We typical use 411 limestone of clean #57s.
411 limestone will have some dust and harden up like concrete. This is used for a none permeable patio.
Clean #57s are used simply and only for permable patios. This allows the water to drain through the ground.
Bedding layer
Bedding layer is a 1 inch thick layer of #9 limestone chips. this a used to help level are pavers so you aren't left with a nice wavy beach!
Laying the pavers
Paver will then go on top of that bedding layer you just read about. paver can have all different types of patterns.
Sand joints
Paver now get polymetric sand or permeable sand. This will either be brushed in wet or wet down after. Please let the sand be for a least 48 hours.
Edging Restraint
We will and always have believed in concrete edging. Preferable Perma edge. Edging is to keep the pavers nice and tight together.
Sealers
Sealing your patio is the final touch. It keeps all those nasty stains off the pavers to make sure you are left everyday with a beautiful low maintenance paver patio.
